About Me
I completed my Ph.D. in Teaching and Learning Policy and Leadership (TLPL) with a focus on Science Education at University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). I hold an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction as well as a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Spanish Language and Culture, both also from UMD. Before graduate school, I taught high school chemistry for three years in Prince George's County, Maryland.
I am originally from upstate New York and most of my family is still there. I have two cats and am a huge animal lover. My interests include Latin dance, exercise and strength training, cooking, and exploring the outdoors. I am passionate about environmental sustainability, teacher preparation and the professionalization of teaching, and improving educational opportunities for minority and low-income youth, especially in our local communities.
